Using strong lensing to understand the microJy radio emission in two radio quiet quasars at redshift 1.7

چکیده
ABSTRACT The radio quasar luminosity function exhibits an upturn around $L_{6\rm \:GHz}=10^{23}$ W Hz−1 that is well-modelled by a star-forming host galaxy population. This distribution leads some authors to cite star formation as the main emission mechanism in so-called radio-quiet quasars (RQQs). Understanding origin of RQQ crucial for our understanding feedback mechanisms – responsible regulation and evolution whole. By observing RQQs have been magnified strong gravitational lensing, we direct access population out cosmic noon, where evidence twin mini-jets has recently found sub-$\mu$Jy RQQ. Here present observations two lensed using VLA at 5 GHz, latest objects be observed sample quadruply-imaged above −30°. In SDSS J1004+4112 find AGN-related variability source. PG 1115+080 tentative emission, determined comparing with modelled dust components. If confirmed case 1115+080, which lies on radio–FIR correlation, result would reinforce need caution when applying correlation rule jet activity assuming no AGN heating FIR-emitting calculating rates. Our programme so far shown faintest sources ever imaged show AGN-dominated emission.

On the origin of radio emission in radio quiet quasars
The radio emission in radio loud quasars originates in a jet carrying relativistic electrons. In radio quiet quasars (RQQs) the relative radio emission is ∼ 10 times weaker, and its origin is not established yet. We show here that there is a strong correlation between the radio luminosity (LR) and X-ray luminosity (LX) with LR ∼ 10 −5LX , for the radio quiet Palomar-Green (PG) quasar sample. Th...
متن کاملThe radio properties of radio-quiet quasars
Although radio-quiet quasars (RQQs) constitute > ∼ 90% of optically-identified quasar samples their radio properties are only poorly understood. In this paper we present the results of a multi-frequency VLA study of 27 low-redshift RQQs. We detect radio emission from 20 objects, half of which are unresolved (≤ 0.24). In cases where significant structure can be resolved, double, triple and linea...
متن کاملRadio-Quiet Quasars in the VIDEO Survey: Evidence for AGN-powered radio emission at S1.4GHz < 1mJy
Understanding the interplay between black-hole accretion and star formation, and how to disentangle the two, is crucial to our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution. To investigate, we use a combination of optical and near-infrared photometry to select a sample of 74 quasars from the VISTA Deep Extragalactic Observations (VIDEO) Survey, over 1 deg. The depth of VIDEO allows us to stud...
متن کاملRadio-quiet Red Quasars
We have performed a successful targeted search for a population of red, radio-quiet, and probably absorbed quasars. Radio-quiet, optically red ROSAT PSPC X-ray sources brighter than 1 ] 10~13 ergs cm~2 s~1 were searched for red (O[E [2.0, O1 20) counterparts in the Automated Plate-measuring Machine catalog of Palomar Sky Survey objects. Of 45 objects for which we obtained adequate followup opti...
